Oil Change & Fluid Service in Mississauga

The cheapest service on the list and the one that decides how long the expensive things last. What matters isn’t the price of the oil change — it’s whether the oil in the bottle actually meets the approval your engine requires.

01 / Specification

“5W-30” is not a specification

Viscosity is one number on the bottle. What modern engines actually require is an approval code — a manufacturer standard covering additive chemistry, ash content and shear stability.

Use an oil that matches the viscosity but not the approval and you can get timing chain wear on a direct-injection engine, a blocked particulate filter on a diesel, or a turbo that coked up its bearing 40,000 km early. None of it shows up the week after the oil change, which is exactly why the corner-cutting is invisible.

We look up the approval your vehicle needs, use an oil that carries it, and print the specification on the invoice so you can check.

The GTA severe-service trap. Most manuals list two intervals: normal and severe. Severe service means short trips, stop-start traffic, extended idling and extreme cold — which describes a Mississauga-to-Toronto commute in January almost exactly. A lot of drivers are following the normal interval while driving a severe-service pattern.

Questions

Oil, honestly

How often, really?

Follow your manufacturer’s interval, but be honest about which column applies. If your driving is short trips and stop-start traffic, that’s severe service and the shorter interval applies.

Does the specification actually matter?

Yes, more than the brand does. An oil that meets viscosity but not the approval can cause chain wear, filter blockage and turbo failure — none of it visible until it’s expensive.

Do you top up fluids between services?

Washer fluid and small coolant or oil top-ups, free for regulars. Though a fluid that keeps needing topping up is a leak, and we’d rather find that.

Is the dealer’s oil better?

It’s usually the same oil in a different bottle. What you’re paying extra for at a dealership is overhead, not chemistry.
